New Jersey Personal Injury Lawyers

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

By Richard Romando It is often observed that people who are involved in personal injury cases do not seek any help or guidance from a personal injury lawyer. The main reason for this is the fear that doing so can be too expensive and complicated. One of the major drawbacks in any personal injury case is the stress and expenditure associated with filing the case and other court proceedings. However, in New Jersey there are many law firms that have the capacity to completely alleviate those fears. Today, getting the services of a New Jersey personal injury lawyer is an easy task. A personal injury lawyer is needed when a person decides to claim compensation for pain and suffering that is caused by a personal injury. Filling a personal injury claim in the case of negligence is essential for anyone. This kind of legal action helps create awareness among people and also acts as a note of caution to other fraudulent companies or people. New Jersey personal injury lawyers are specialized in offering various personal injury services, such as handling cases of auto or car accidents, aviation disasters, plane crashes, or accidents. Personal injury lawyers evaluate the case and inform their clients about the amount of compensation. The personal injury lawyers help their client get the maximum possible compensation. Some of the personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis, charging compensation only if their client wins the case. Some personal injury lawyers also work on a pro bono basis to help people who do not have adequate finances to fight their case. This kind of help is also provided by the lawyers of charitable and non-profit organizations. Experienced and proficient legal counsel is very important in any personal injury case. New Jersey has a number of such proficient lawyers who help fight personal injury cases. Most people seek references from family and friends, rather than go through the listings available, to select a personal injury lawyer. Injury Lawyers provides detailed information on Injury Lawyers, Personal Injury Lawyers, Brain Injury Lawyers, Birth Injury Lawyers and more. Injury Lawyers is affiliated with Brain Injury Attorneys. How to Get Rid of a Cold Sore

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

By Jennifer McCleary Cold sores are a form of the virus herpes and there for there is no cure. The virus remains in the body for life. Once an outbreak heals, the virus retreats back into the nerve cells. Once it is there, it stays dormant, but can reactivate at any time. Even though there is nothing you can do to get rid of the virus, there are things you can do to prevent cold sores (the form the virus takes in an outbreak). First Tip: Always use a good sunscreen on your lips. Exposure to sun, cold, and wind can aggravate the virus and cause outbreaks. A good sunscreen will protect you from all of these. You can use regular sunscreen, or a lib balm that contains sun screen. Second Tip: Reduce stress and get plenty of rest. Stress and fatigue weaken the immune system which causes your body to not be able to fight off the virus as effectively. Easy ways to reduce stress are to exercise, and make sure you have some down time each day. Third Tip: Make sure you eat well and take vitamins. A well rounded diet, with a good amount of protein also boosts your immune system and helps ward off the virus. Also, supplements such as Vitamin B and Lysine have been known to prevent and heal breakouts. If you do have an outbreak, or know someone who does, avoid coming into contact with the virus. Dont share drinks or eating utensils with another person. Wash your hands often, and avoid kissing. Even the slightest kiss on the lips can spread the virus. By doing these three simple things you will be able to help prevent cold sores. There are some great ointments and home remedies that can help treat a breakout. Gift Idea: Giving a Personalized Gift

Monday, December 17th, 2007

By Earl Juanico Do you ever feel like your gift giving has become too impersonal? Oftentimes, we depend on gift cards and other generic gift idea out of convenience and a lack of time and effort. A truly great gift idea brings about a gift that can be given on a moments notice. All you need is a little grain of imagination and creativity as well as a desire to make your gift stand out. A great gift idea is more about reflecting the recipients tastes and personality than the gift itself. As far as time is concerned, many of these basic gifts can be kept in a drawer at home and quickly personalized with a note or small trinket. Many people are personally fans of the gift card because they are easy to personalize. The basic gift idea of personalizing a gift card and turning it into a great gift requires a little ingenuity. A gift card to Starbucks is great for the coffee lover; but it would be much more fun for someone to receive it in his or her favorite colored mug, or perhaps with a chocolate covered spoon. Gift certificates to a favorite clothing or shoe store can be another great gift idea. To personalize them, just pick up a pair of socks or a bracelet or anything small. It gives the recipient something to open and use now, plus the excitement of going to get more later on. How about for the person with everything? It seems like every time one thinks of a gift idea, these people already have it. They simply require slightly more creativity and ingenuity than normal. A gift basket can often solve this problem. Just remember that consumable items are the most recommended. A wine and cheese basket is great for those with a taste for finer things. A “Movie Night” basket with popcorn, a Blockbuster gift card, some candy and soda goes over well for those with a sweet tooth. Another gift idea would be a backpack with trail mix, a first aid kit and a bandana for the avid outdoorsman. Focusing on the recipients interests can make gift idea possibilities really endless. Once again, a great gift idea should reflect the one receiving the gift. A gift of obligation is always easy to spot. By personalizing a gift, you want the person you are giving a gift to know that you took the time to create a special gift for them. No matter how simple the gift idea is, a hand written note can add so much to the overall feeling of the gift. Anyone would definitely feel good receiving a gift that someone else took the time and effort with. On the flip side, one who is giving the gift just needs to put in mind that it is for the other person. Thus, you must avoid buying a gift just because you would like to receive it. So many items are returned due to such uncreative instinct. Unless a specific request is heard, do not go out and buy someone a non-stick frying pan just because you love yours. Even if the recipient is a fond of cooking, one can never predict that a cooking item is the one they want or need By considering the personality of the recipient when thinking of a gift idea, one is guaranteed a great response. Is Fasting a Faster Way to Weight Loss

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

By Sylvia Jaumann Youve probably heard about how Beyonce recently stated that she went on a fast liquid diet in order to quickly lose weight for a movie role. Or maybe you recall years ago how Oprah Winfrey tried the same thing for three months and lost a tremendous amount of weight. Then, as soon as she started eating solid foods again, she rapidly put the weight back on. Liquid diets or fasts, as theyre known, are one of the worst things you can do to your metabolism. Its a well-documented fact that every time you starve yourself, your metabolism effectively shuts down. This is why you gain all the weight back as soon as you start eating again. Your metabolism is a wonderful thing when youre young and you can eat anything you want without having to worry about gaining weight. But once you hit your 30s and 40s, your wonderful metabolism suddenly turns into your worst enemy. The pounds start to creep on around the middle and suddenly you realize that your metabolism has slowed down. In fact, it may surprise you to learn that in order to increase your metabolism you need to eat regular low-fat meals and snacks throughout the day. This, combined with a regular exercise program (such as walking) will turn your body into a fat burning machine. Fasting sounds like a great quick fix because you can lose weight very quickly. But the price you end up paying in damage to your metabolism is too great for short term weight loss. Fasting is short term solution because you will inevitably gain the weight back. Are you ready for the beach this year? Get in shape. Click here now. How a Written Agreement Can Enhance Your Relationship

Friday, December 14th, 2007

By Ed Sherman Marital contracts have an honorable history going back thousands of years, but they have not been put to good use for modern couples. Instead they have developed a bad reputation for being legalistic, money-grubbing things, negatively preoccupied with all that might go wrong in the future, and too often used to strip a woman marrying a wealthy man of her rights to property, support, and inheritance. But it doesn’t have to be that way. A new kind of relationship agreement, the Couples Contract is a different animal entirely–affirming and forward-looking–which can do constructive things for loving couples and add features to their relationship that can only help. Positive, clear language. Unlike the traditional prenup with its terrible legalistic, sphincter-tightening language that lawyers tend to use, often as an awkward substitute for clear thinking and competent writing, the Couples Contract is written in loving and affirming language in simple terms everyone can understand. Commitment. The Couples Contract affirms your intention to enter into a lasting relationship based upon mutual affection, respect and friendship. You can also commit to a high degree of openness, honesty and good faith in all dealings with one another. The advantages of a Couples Contract can be had by any couple at any time. It doesn’t matter if you are married, soon-to-be-married, or simply living together. If you are a committed couple, you can’t afford to be without at least a basic Couples Contract. Here are some essential benefits: Make a loving commitment to a lasting relationship Introduce concepts that can help solve relationship problems if any arise Make sure your relationship never ends up in court Keep the terms of your relationship stable, no matter where you move You don’t have to, but if you want, you can add some optional clauses to your basic agreement that will take some thought and discussion, such as: Tailor your financial relationships to make them more suitable to your family’s needs, which for some couples will be a must. Introduce faith-related principles into your family life. You can start with a simpler basic agreement first, then tailor it later or never, or you can tailor your agreement at the outset. In either case, your agreement can be modified at any time. Introduce constructive principles into your relationship One of the most important features you can add to any relationship–a gift that you can give yourselves–is planning in advance, while everything is smooth and lovely, to deal with issues that might threaten your relationship in the future. If you want a lasting relationship, there are specific things you can do to increase your chances. The Couples Contract can plant some seeds that will help you unravel predicaments that come up for most couples sooner or later. Most couples have no plan or idea for how to deal with such situations if they ever do occur, but you can create a Couples Contract that is there to remind you that there are things you can do and resources you can turn to if needed. Even though things may be wonderful and romantic now, just having these seeds in the back of your mind will help you in the future to recognize signs that your relationship needs some attention, and you’ll have some ideas for how to respond if that happens. Look at this as a form of free health insurance. I expand on these concepts in detail, show you how to create your own Couples Contract, and even provide a template and optional clauses, in my latest book, Legal Essentials for California Couples at www.nolocouples.com. You can use the Couples Contract template even if you don’t live in California by making some minor changes. Thank-You Notes: Your Thoughtfulness will be Rewarded

Friday, December 14th, 2007

By Bonnie Lowe I get asked these questions over and over: “Should I send separate thank-you notes to everyone who interviewed me? Can I just send one thank-you note to the hiring manager and ask him/her to thank others involved in the process?” The answers are yes and no, respectively. Send a separate thank-you note to everyone who interviewed you, whether it was an informal pre-interview phone call, an interview lunch meeting, or the final formal interview after a lengthy process. Don’t be stingy with your thank yous! It’s an easy thing to do, it will only take a few minutes–and it will make the recipients feel good about you! Why wouldn’t you jump at the chance to do that? You can make your thank-you notes relatively short. They can be sent via snail-mail or email. (There are differing opinions on which is best. I prefer the now “special” touch of a real letter over the routine method of email; others think email is best because it’s faster. Just remember that what you say is more important than how you send it.) Make each thank-you note slightly different by mentioning something in particular that you and the recipient discussed. This is a good reason to do your thank-you notes right away, while the interview is fresh in your mind. You might even want to take notes for this purpose. Here’s a great tip that will really impress the hiring manager: add a P.S. that mentions how helpful someone was, by name. I’m not talking about people directly involved in the interviews; they should get their own thank-you notes. But if there was a receptionist, an administrative assistant, or someone else who was helpful during your interview process, say so. Those people are rarely recognized, but may have influence with the hiring manager. The boss will think of you as someone who appreciates his team, notices things most other people overlook, and goes the extra mile. Why make this a P.S.? Studies show that most people read the P.S. before (or even instead of) reading the main body of a letter. This P.S. will get attention and impress the reader, which will get your entire letter read and your thoughtfulness remembered! What’s A Single Christian To Do?

Friday, December 14th, 2007

By Sonya Triggs It’s Saturday night. You’re sitting at home. Your phone has not rung in the past few hours. As a matter of fact, your phone hasn’t rang much in the last two weeks (other than the bill collectors). You sit there. You pull up the movie offerings on Comcast. And you wonder - ‘Is this what life is all about?’ You think to yourself - ‘Shouldn’t I be out with someone?’ And, even if you didn’t want to go out, shouldn’t someone at least have called so that you could have the pleasure of saying no? Or should you call someone to ask him or her out, though you’re sure they’ll say no? I mean, it’s not like you don’t have other options - as much as you don’t want to use them. You would call your ‘girls’, but you’re starting to think you’re related to them because you see them so much. Or, you could call the ‘fellows’, but one more made up story about how many girls your one friend has will definitely send you over the edge. So what’s a girl or boy to do? First, let’s ask ourselves - is it okay to be home, alone, on a Saturday night? Are you the butt of some cosmic joke that is destined to make you a permanent bachelor or bachelorette? Though it may seem this way at times, it is simply not so! Being single is a great thing. And, if it makes you feel any better, you can rest assured in the knowledge that you are not alone. Being single (by choice or by circumstance) simply means being called to ’singleness’. This means you are solo in life, but not in your friendships, with your family or as a valuable, contributing member of society. In other words, you don’t have a mate, but you have everything else a healthy individual needs to enjoy life. You have a job (and if you don’t, being single gives you plenty of time to look for one!). You have your family, and you may or may not have children, so you are not lonely. You have your friends, so you have people who will talk to you or hang out with you. You have yourself (and if you find you get bored with your own company, then you might really have a problem!). But, most importantly, you have God. Sometimes God is overjoyed at our singleness. His joy is the equivalent of your being on a diet and eating half a fat-free popsicle every day and then, whoo-hoo, getting to eat a whole pint of Haagen Dazs (or maybe it’s just me)! If your life is like most people’s, you are probably pretty darned busy most of the time with life, family career and church. And, when you were in a relationship, you were probably busy with the talks, the dates, the drama and the like. So you probably don’t have a whole lot of time for God in the first place. But being single works in your favor - you have more time to spend with God, more time to pray and more time for the solitude required to develop a true walk with God. Because this is when He can truly work on you! It says in the Bible that a single person seeks to please the Lord, but a married person seeks to please his or her spouse. The inference is obvious - when you are married, your mind shifts to other priorities. Even if you were domesticated before, now there’s double-duty - double the dishes, double the money to do your grocery shopping, double the trash to take out, double the cars to service, and double the time spent with another person. Double the time, but still only one you. Being single is the perfect time to devote yourself to God! And to let Him develop you into the Christian He wants you to be. This is not to say that you should never go out. Go out, have some good, clean fun. Mr. or Mrs. Right is out there somewhere waiting for you and he or she will put in an appearance - at the right time. But, until then, take advantage of your free time! Get in tune with God (because, believe me you’ll need it when you get married), re-discover who you are, spend time with your friends, and become more committed at church. More importantly, spend ‘quality’ time with God. He wants you to. And you need to, to maintain joy, happiness, and peace of mind. Date sometimes, but spend time with God all the time. And - here’s a bonus - you just might find that spending all that time with God has put you on the fast track to spiritual maturity which will lead to finding the mate of your dreams even sooner! Better than waiting on the phone to ring, right? Sonya C. What Is A Contrite Heart?

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

By Mark E. Baker A contrite heart, a broken heart, a humble heart, these are just different ways of saying the same thing, but they can also have different meanings and its important to understand the difference, so as to avoid confusion. What is a contrite heart? What is true humility in the Bible sense? Ive heard Christians pray God break me and make me into what you want me to be. I understand what they are saying, but when you look at the Word of God, you see that God wants a whole vessel that can be used unto His honor. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our redemption. He died so that we can be whole spirit, soul, and body. A broken water pitcher wont hold water, and cant be used for the masters use. So my question is, what is true Bible humility, what does the Bible mean when it is talking about a broken heart? Lets look to the Word of God as always for the answers. Ps:34:18. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. In this instance the Word broken means,– crush, destroy, hurt, quench, tear. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, or a crushed or hurt heart. When the righteousness have been hurt the Lord is there to deliver them. The Lord is not the one doing the crushing and destroying He is the one doing the delivering. Jesus said, in John 10:10. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. In this instance there is deliverance out of the condition of brokenness. As vs. 19 goes on to say: Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. This gives the sense of there being healing and wholeness in Gods deliverance. Psalms 51:17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart These, O God, You will not despise. In this case contrite means, — Grieving and penitent for sin. God does not despise a broken heart, this is true humility, and its the first step to real forgiveness and cleansing. Real forgiveness only comes when you humble your heart before God. God does not do this for you, the Holy Spirit will draw you to the love of God, but you have to receive it. Micah 6:8. He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? In Micah it says walking humbly with, you see in this case it is not talking about a crushed or bruised spirit, it is talking about walking with God, or in cooperation along with God. When you are walking under someone elses authority, you have their full backing and support. One example of this would be a police officer who is directing traffic. He doesnt on his own have the power to stop a car but he has the authority granted him by his local govt. or municipality to stop cars, doesnt he? We all have authority we have to submit to, whether we like it or not, whether it be the traffic cop or our boss, without it there would be chaos. The highest authority we have to submit to is God. His authority is the ultimate authority we all have to submit to, either now or later! The Word of God tells us every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is lord to the glory of God the Father. (Phil:2:11).When I think of humility, I think of submitting to a greater authority. Or putting yourself in a place of subservience to, as in 1 Peter 5:6. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. This is not talking about a master and a slave, this is talking about walking under the authority of a caring Father. Theres a huge difference! It is saying here to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, or putting ourselves under His authority. He is telling us to do this so that He can exalt us, however He cant exalt us unless we put ourselves in a place where He can do it. Its His desire to exalt us, but we must do our part. Hes already done His part through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. How can we truly submit to God, what do we have to do? This is a straight foreword question that we all would like to know the answer to. We have to submit to His Word. His Word is His written will to us all. Gods Word is Gods will. You can not truly get to know God or know His will unless you read His Word. It is scriptural to ask God to give you a desire and a hunger for His Word, if you are earnest, you will get it. Jesus said in the gospel of Matthew. Matthew 5:6. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. It didnt say they might be filled, it said they shall be filled. It starts when you acknowledge you dont have the answers, but recognize He does. I dont have all the answers but Gods Word has all the answers, and as I learn of Him, and submit to His will, he will lift me up. It is an act of your will to submit, and it is also in your best interest. God always has our best interest in mind. His desire is to see us healthy and prosperous, as the apostle John wrote by the unction of the Holy Spirit, 3 John 1:2. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. This doesnt sound like the ravings of a mad dictator, this is the desire of a loving and caring Father. The Father always has our best interest in mind, always! If we can acknowledge that, it makes it a lot easier for us to submit to Him. Once you learn to trust God you will wonder why you never did in the past. He loves us more than we can comprehend. Jesus said in Matthew,Matthew 11:29. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” He is saying for us to take on His yoke, and learn of Him, He is gentle and lowly of heart, and that is the place where we find rest for our souls. If you only knew the true peace that comes when you enter into Gods rest, you would never want to leave. His Word tells us to labor to enter into that rest. Hebrews 4:9. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. 11. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience. Entering Gods rest is being obedient and submissive to His will. The Word is telling us to be diligent to enter that rest. Rest is much better than works, rest is flowing with God, and walking with Him under His authority. Ive been on both sides, and rest is better, even if it is a labor to get there, rest is better, learning of God and partaking of His fellowship and His life and His love is a life changing experience that you can only experience when you submit to Him. How about it?Are you willing to take the first step. The first step is to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and savior. If you dont know Him I would like to invite you to pray this prayer. Dear Heavenly Father,I come to you in the name of Jesus.Your word says, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (Jn.6:37),So I know You wont cast me out, but You take me in,And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Ro. 10:13).I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now,You also said, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. (Ro.10:9,10).I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord,Because Your Word says, with the heart one believes to righteousness and I do believe with my heart,I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. Reaching Success in Jewelry Business

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

By Carolina Gonzlez One day, you buy your first pliers and some rolls of wire and make your first loop. Disastrous, of course. You add one bead and painstakingly get to add the hook and you feel like the Queen of Jewelry Land. You actually get it to make a pair. Double feeling of being the queen. Years go by and you keep working. Adding the hooks does not take hours anymore, so you start adding little embellishments, maybe a spiral loop. During these years, you learn the hard way all the ways you can make mistakes in this business. A few times along the way you decide you wont make it anymore and maybe ramble with other arts, but pliers and wire always call you back and you find yourself awake at 5 AM because you suddenly woke up with that necklace design in your head. But its not easy. It makes you mad to think why others can? while you cant seem to make it. Your artist ego is frustrated. You are tired of going nowhere. Things like marketing, advertising and promoting sound like from another world. A scary world. Youre an artist, youre not a salesperson. But maybe you cant quit your day job because you won’t pay your bills selling jewelry. But then, one day, you start working patiently and silently. Do not argue anymore about your doomed fate and overcome yourself by working seriously, making a business plan that works and give good results soon. You find ways to promote yourself that are easy and enjoyable and learn the right way to work a business. A real one that grows and grows in many directions. What happened to you? Well, you just lost your ego. Your amazing power to make each of your dreams come true can now arise and materialize. Obviously you dont need this article at all but if you feel still included in the second paragraph, maybe you should keep on reading this 7 Tips to Be a Better Jeweler: The Ego IssueAccording to both Buddhism and Psychology, your ego is a small angry child that never grew up. Instead of thinking rationally, we humans tend to act forced by that little child that, of course, cannot manage with an adults issues and just cries and moans and get completely paralyzed in fear of the unknown. Surprising, ah? If you ask yourself too much things like Why do I never have luck? or Why does this always happen to me?, maybe youre letting that little child control your life. The key to personal (and world) happiness is putting that child to rest letting it flow through creative activities, love and self acceptation, but making choices with a higher conscience. Good choices bring happiness to us and good energy to the Universe, that will flow back to us through opportunities helping us achieve our full potential. As artists, we are even more inclined than many other people to reach a higher state of consciousness, so it should be easier for us to understand this facts. 1: You can always make it better.Ego says: Im very very good but really, how good you are? This is a very competitive world and you must be objective about the quality of your work. How can your jewels be improved? Can they be safer? Have you double-checked everything before you package it? Are you selling something that may eventually break or fall off?Remember that the kind of customer that you will die for is one that looks for quality and durability. A very good question to ask yourself is Would I pay that money for this jewel? 2: You can always treat your customers better.Ego says Making that custom gift box is really hard work, and for free! Please, be more respectful with your customers! Some of the money they pay for a (never forget that) completely unnecessary item you sell is very hard-earned! From all the jewelers around theyve chosen YOU! There is always time to add and extra gift for a good customer. As artisans we need customers that come back again and again, and that always think of you first when they need a special jewel for their social events or gifts. We need a customer that speaks wonderfully of our work and bring new customers with them so, what do people find when they meet you, whether if the meeting is at your studio or at your booth? Treat them all the same, whether if they make big of small buyings. Know them as much as you can and try to put all your best efforts to make them feel at home with you. 3. Work hard to find your own style.Ego says Oh, my style is truly unique! but the truth is that there is almost no such thing in jewelry business, or in any art business. Finding your own way includes a LOT of constant learning and humility. Strive to make the jewel you really dream of and do not feel pressured by what you can sell or whom you can sell to. If your pieces breath uniqueness they will sell out. 4. Give and Teach as much as you take and learn from others.Ego says oh, if I share my techniques everyone will make copys of my work and sell more than me for sure Really, have you heard how childish that sounds? Change your view about yourself and ask yourself if someone could envision you as a master in your particular style. Sharing your techniques, whether as downloadable files for small prices (tutorials are usually very cheap) or simply for free like Im doing now, will not only improve your business karma wonderfully, but also will make you get a lot of respect from learners and professionals alike. Building a good reputation will mean a good percentage of your sales one day, but you have to start now. 5: Forget about inspirationEgo says: Im an artist, I cant work if Im uninspiredwell, and Pablo Picasso said inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. Who do you believe? I chose to believe Master Pablo, of course. Inspired or not, work everyday. Im sure there are a lot of office issues like web updating, taking better pictures of your items, making tags or whatever that you have pending, as we all have, that you can make it on your uninspired time. My husband is an electrician company director and he goes to work everyday, whether if hes inspired or not! Why should I have that privilege? 6. You can make your own ways to sell and promote your workEgo says Im an artist, I cant deal with sales and publicity. Thats not what an artist is supposed to be. Something I really hear a lot. I truly believe that, as artists, we are even more able to sell ourselves than other professionals because creativity is the real key to publicity success. The true instinct to find beauty is inside every true artist. Though I think is essential to read a good quantity of marketing articles, we have an ability to create that is a natural advantage. Again, change your point of view about yourself and create new ways to promote your work. 7. Dont take critiques personallyEgo says Oh, that person I dont know at all thinks my jewelry is awfulI am a complete failure! Well, you dont like everything, so dont expect your jewelry to be loved by everyone. What a person says about your work may be influenced by many things that do not have to do with your work at all. Be always ready to follow positive advice immediatly, but dont let other peoples feelings reflect on you self image. Remember, maybe that person is also talking through her/his little angry child! EpilogueLearning the business takes time and effort. There is no instant success and if there is, it will pass soon leaving you wondering what you did wrong and making you learn another good lesson which should always be seen as a valuable thing. I am personally guilty and all crimes said above and in many, many more that have turned into a deeper knowledge of myself, my work as an artist and the world around me. I am very proud of all my mistakes, in fact! We all are on an endless road of personal growing, with no finish line. There is always someone wiser than us and someone that may need our advice as well. I really hope this article helps you in your way to reach complete success; knowing that youve found your way is one of the highest feelings a person can have and you deserve to have it too. My name is Carolina Gonzlez and I am the owner and designer of NeoVamp Jewelry. I make fine handcrafted bijouterie, mainly with wire wrapping techniques of my own. Through the years Ive acquired a lot of knowledge about the healing properties of colours and stones and try to advise my customers to help them find the jewel that will not only fit them, but help them and make them shine.I am usually inspired by art, specially music and painting. Gustav Klimt, Brian Froud, Antoni Gaudi and the Arts & Crafts movement are my more revisited influences, along with music and cinema. I am also quite interested in prehistoric, tribal and religious art through history.I have published courses on internet about doll customizing and edited a crafts ezine (suspended temporarily due to work overbooking!). I am planning to write and self-publish a wire work ebook next year. I have appeared on Canarias Directo, a tv show of the Canary Islands Television Channel, and last January was interviewed by Rena Klingenberg or her Jewelry Success Stories site.
