Closet By Design

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

By Arturo Ronzon Everybody dreams of a home where they can build every nook and cranny of the house to their hearts desire. Every room will have its own distinctive ambience and the garden will be built like paradise. A lot of thought will be put into the color scheme to get it all to blend in just the way you want it. When a house is fully customized, then there would be a lot of spaces where standard sized furniture would not quite fit in. The kitchen needs to be custom built and so would the closets. Only then would the entire house materialize as the ones in your dreams. To ensure that closets in your dream home fit in well, many companies nowadays are established to cater to your every whim and desire. There are closet systems that can be bought off the shelf and then mixed and matched to your home but why stop there if you have the means of realizing your dream home? Companies that provide custom built closets will usually send a talented designer to your home to take in the theme and overall feel of the areas that you wish to implement custom closets. The designer will then proceed to take detailed measurements and explore the various possible storage possibilities that your new closet will provide. This is the time for you to really communicate with the designer on what you expect. Let the closet designer know just how you want your closet to be built from the way the closet doors swing or slide open to the way the clothes will hang. Custom built closets can cater to your every storage need so dont be afraid to let loose your imagination. After taking in your wants and needs along with the detailed measurements, the designer will come up with the design on paper to show you. This is when you will be able to see for the first time as to how your whole closet by design would look like. Most closet designing companies have 3D computer capability nowadays so you can actually see your custom made closet and manipulate it on the computer. With the visualization aids, you can finalize your closet design and set the manufacturing into motion. Sweepstakes

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

By Max Bellamy Sweepstakes are promotions where prizes are given away for free. They differ from a lottery or most contests because you are not required to purchase anything to enter. However, you are required to fill out a registration form and in many cases answer survey or poll questions. To publicize the sweepstakes, companies use various modes of distribution to the consumer including direct mail, the internet and the telephone. These are all costly forms of marketing and when you add an expensive sweepstakes prize, one might wonder what the company gets in return. Usually, the sponsoring company is so successful in their marketing tactics that substantial revenue is earned no matter what the expense. Of course, when entering any form of sweepstakes, be prepared to be put on a number of opt-in email lists. You dont always have to buy anything, but usually you must be sent email advertising of some kind. On the other hand, the ads may simply take the form of pop-ups or banners at the sites where you register. If you are skeptical of a particular sweepstakes, there are protective measures in place that protect customers from any kind of fraudulence. To protect against deceptive mail, “The Deceptive Mail Prevention and Enforcement Act” was founded on April 12, 2000. E-mail (Internet) sweepstakes must comply with the “CAN-SPAM” act that became effective on January 1, 2004. So what are you waiting for? Start playing sweepstakes now and you might win huge prizes. Who knows - “lady luck” might just smile on you. Sweepstakes provides detailed information on Sweepstakes, Sweepstakes Advice, Cash Sweepstakes, Free Sweepstakes and more. Sweepstakes is affiliated with Writing Contests. Relationship In Trouble - Stop Calling!

Friday, September 14th, 2007

By Alisa Chagnon If you are in a relationship and things have seem to taken a turn for the worse, you may feel confused, frustrated and betrayed. If the other person in the relationship has not quite broken up with you, but has taken the relationship down a few notches, you may be tempted to do quite a few things in an attempt to improve the situation. It is important to understand why you feel this way, learn the correct method of dealing with the turn of events and discover how you can cope with the feelings you are having. When a person seems to be backing away from you, one of the main actions they will take is to distance themselves regarding contact. For an example of this, we will use the names of Jim and Lisa. Jim and Lisa had been in a relationship for nine months. They had reached the point of feeling in love. Despite time not allowing them to see each other every day, they had an ongoing schedule of talking each day. They would communicate via telephone or instant messaging. Knowing when to expect a call or to begin chatting via computer, Lisa would look forward to this time each day. Then things changed. Jim told Lisa that he had been undergoing some stress involving his work. It was at this time that he began to back away from Lisa. Lisa tried to offer support, however Jim did not seem to want her advice and he told her that he preferred to deal with the issue himself. As the days progressed, Lisa would sit by her telephone or computer, waiting for Jim, who never called or showed. She began to feel rejected, sad and confused. Feeling ignored by the man she loved, her mounting frustration led her to call him frequently. Quite often, he would not answer his telephone. She would leave him offline messages on their instant messaging system, airing her feelings of grief over his disappearances. After finally contacting Jim, Lisa expressed her extreme concern that she felt she was losing Jim. She explained that when he did not call her, or meet her on the computer, she felt very sad. She asked him to stop ignoring her and told him that they should talk through any problems. Jim promised to call Lisa very soon. Giving her the excuse that his computer was not working, he promised to meet her online as soon as possible. He asked Lisa to stop calling, as it was expensive for her to do so, and to wait for his call. Lisa did not hear from Jim for a week, and she has a very strong urge to call him. Does this scenario sound familiar? Any situation similar to this puts a person in a complicated, non-defined relationship. Feeling as though the other person in the relationship no longer cares, a person will begin to mourn the loss and feel abandoned. However, at the same time, not directly told that the relationship is over, a person still holds on, hoping to reconnect and find a resolution to any problems. Sitting by the phone waiting for a call, becomes an integral part of the day. Thoughts of the other persons mindset preoccupy ones thoughts, sometimes to the point of not functioning properly at work and at home. The need to contact the other person is so strong; it can lead to frustration and actions that only add to unhappiness. It is a normal impulse to want to talk with the other person and learn exactly where the relationship stands. It is at this point, that one must realize that no amount of calling on the telephone will change the other persons state of mind or fix any problems. It is a difficult urge to overcome, to refrain from repeatedly calling the other person. Even if they answer their phone, in a case such as this, where the other person is incapable of defining the relationship, there is an avoidance of questions and any promises will not withstand. It will provide a temporary relief if you are told that they love you, they will call you soon, everything is fine, etc. However, the key word is temporary. Once the conversation ends, you will be back at your phone and waiting for it to ring. Easier said than done, one must realize that if someone they care about is not making contact, it simply means they do not wish to! If someone truly cares about another, that person would make every attempt possible to reassure his or her love, and confirm that the relationship is strong. In todays world, it is quite easy to pick up a telephone and make a call, even if it need be brief If someone is leaving you to sit by a telephone that never rings, despite their promises, it sadly means that they most probably easing out of the relationship. If you continually telephone the other person, they will become frustrated. You will become frustrated. You may feel as if you cannot withstand a lack of communication. This is a normal feeling, when loving someone. You may feel an overwhelming urge for the other person to explain their actions. If the other person wishes to remain silent and not respond to your requests, no amount of calling in the world will produce the results you are looking for. One of the most difficult feelings a person goes through in life, is the loss of a relationship in which they love the other person very deeply. A relationship ending in an undefined way, only adds to this feeling of sadness and hopelessness. Calling the other person endlessly will not improve the situation. You will only feel distraught when they do not answer or if told everything is ok, when it is not. When the person you love is ignoring you, they are showing a tremendous lack of caring. They are proving to you that they do not care that you are sad, they do not care that you are in emotional pain caused by their lack of communication. They are putting their wants and needs ahead of any emotional distress you are feeling. They are showing you their true colors. Do you wish to be in a relationship with someone who does not care for your feelings? One wishes for a person that is kind, caring, and supportive of our feelings. No one can force a person to change his or her core personality. No amount of calling will magically make the other person love you, or for that matter, make them realize they should at least finalize the ending of the relationship instead of avoiding it. When and if the person you love wishes to be with you, they will certainly call you. Believing that you have the power to keep the relationship alive, by being the only person to initiate contact is futile. It is at this time, that you must find the courage and strength to be the mature one. You must find the power to fight the urges to call. If the other person truly loves you, they will contact you. You have already expressed your love. You have already expressed a desire for the relationship to be back to normal. You have already expressed the desire to be with them. Telling them this information repeatedly, will not fix anything. If the relationship is over, regardless of the fact that the other has not outwardly told you, it is time to accept it, mourn it and begin the healing process. Contact that used to be an essential part of your day will one day become a distant memory if given enough time. Strong feelings of love will slowly change into acceptance of having loved someone who did not give you what you deserved. If the relationship is over, leave with dignity. As heartbreaking as it is, stop calling. Marketing No No’s - Don’t Make These Mistakes!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

By Lee Lister You’ve got your business set up and running and your first enquiries start coming in. Now is not the time to sit back and relax you need to stay ahead of the competition and constantly research your market, honing and tuning your marketing. Here are some things that you should absolutely definitely not do. 1. Exaggerate your claims. Sooner or later your hype will catch up with you. Its bad for business to underestimate the intelligence of your potential customers and if you do sell them something that does not work then they will tell others and a bad reputation and demands for refunds will follow. 2. Not testing. Make sure that our ads are effective. Just think of the TV ads that are very memorable, but you cant remember the product that was being advertised. Monitor the response from your ads and make changes as needed. If you are getting loads of traffic but no sales thats a message to you your sales page is not working. If you have an ad or article that gets a lot of click thrus then find out why? What was different? 3. Expect immediate results. Responses to your ads increase the more they are seen. Many people will see your ad but not need your services at the time but if you are consistent they will know where to look when they want you provided that you ad is still there of course! 4. Not making the best use of unpaid advertising. Make yourself into an expert, provide press releases, write columns, offer advice in forums AND always, always leave your name and web link. 5. Forgetting you should always market. Always carry your business cards with you. Put your web links and phone number on everything that comes out of your office. Put your company name on your car; leave some brochures in the car window etc. etc. Take every opportunity to leave your mark! If you remember these errors your enquiries and sales should improve. Should I Prewash my Quilting Fabric

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

By Penny Halgren To tell you the truth, I had not really thought much about the question prior to last week. Long ago, I took a quilting class, and the teacher told us to arrive at class with our fabric already washed and ready to cut. When we arrived for the class, she explained that quilters always pre-wash their fabric for many reasons: 1) To remove all of the sizing (chemicals) the manufacturers add to the fabric to make look more attractive, prevent wrinkles, and make it come off the bolt easier in the store. Although it makes the fabric easier for them to handle, sizing makes the fabric a little stiffer and more difficult for quilters to handle; plus it may leave a residue on your needles and thread as you are sewing. 2) Fabric with a high cotton content will shrink even if it says it is pre-shrunk. (We all know about the pre-shrunk jeans that dont fit any more after one washing! Eeek!) Since not all cottons are born equal, they dont shrink equal either. That means that some cotton fabric will shrink 1%, other cotton fabric will shrink 3% or possibly more. The result is that once your quilt is washed, the fabrics will exert their own shrinking personality, and you will have a quilt that has puckers and some patches will pucker more than others. 3) The color bleeds out of some fabric; and may deposit itself into other fabric. Reds, blues, yellows and purples are famous for sharing their beauty with whites, muslins, and tans. Translation the beautiful, bright white in your quilt may end up with a pink, blue, yellow or lavender haze, if the excess color is not removed from the colored fabric. I wasnt surprised when the beginning quilter asked the question in an on-line quilt discussion group about whether to pre-wash the fabric, and I wasnt surprised to see that several quilters answered with all of the above reasons. I was surprised, however, at the quilter who responded that she never pre-washed her fabrics because she liked the puckered look. I understand completely liking the puckered look; I love it! It makes a quilt look well-loved and handmade. And I am always happy when my quilts develop that look, whether it is the first time they are washed or after several years. I would do almost anything to make sure that my quilts (although maybe not my wallhangings) could have that look of love. I just wish I could figure out a way to get the sizing and excess color out of the fabric without washing it before I sew. Happy Quilting! Ideas for Romantic Escapes

Monday, September 10th, 2007

By Alesandro Fillini Love at first sight may be the clich, but you also have to create time for romance. When it comes to romantic escape ideas, here are a few suggestions that might get the kindling going. Ideas for Romantic Escapes If you have been with your partner for a while, chances are you’re starting to feel the need to escape. A vacation with just the two of you can be a great way to rekindle the loving feeling in your relationship, as well as being a relaxing way to get away from the stresses of everyday life. There are many spots throughout the world that are perfect for short trips as well as longer vacations for two, so here are some romantic escape ideas that are sure to make your time together special. Sometimes, what sort of romantic escape ideas you choose depend on your budget. Many newlyweds or younger couples can’t afford long expensive trips to the Caribbean and Europe, no matter how much they would like to see these places. This does not mean you can’t enjoy a romantic weekend or night together, however. Most areas of the country have bed and breakfast establishments as well as romantic inns located close by, and this can be a great way to have a escape without the expense of an exotic trip. Look into inns and b and b’s that are just an hour or two away from your home, and check to see if they have special packages for romantic occasions. Other great romantic escape ideas are based on the season you wish to travel in. Fall is an excellent time to plan a escape especially to the New England area of the United States. Fall is considered off-season for many resorts and inns in the area (although not the cheapest season, which is usually reserved for winter/spring), which means that romantic escapes here during the months of September through November are likely to be less expensive. You also get the benefits of seeing the beautiful foliage and scenery that are present in the New England area, as well as being able to enjoy activities like apple picking, hayrides and craft fairs. One spot that is perfect for your romantic stay here in the fall is the Mohonk Mountain House, which is located in New Paltz, New York (on the border of New England). This beautiful old resort has breathtaking views of the Catskill Mountains, and a castle-like exterior overlooking a large pond. You can hike up to the top of Mohonk and see views of the Hudson Valley that stretch for miles, and you can feel like you’ve stepped back into the Victorian era with the antique furnishings. Packages include accommodations, three meals daily and even spa treatments. No matter which romantic escape ideas appeal to you, there are sure to be settings that are close by or affordable enough for any budget. The most important part of a romantic escape is being able to spend time alone together. Alesandro Fillini is with DailyRomanticQuotes.com - providing daily romantic quotes updated daily. Gifts For Your Loved One

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

By Victor Epand Well, let’s see about giving them like some equipment for weight training, like something they could do maybe at their house. Also it sounds like you guys have been through a lot together so you could make a journal or photo album. Like I did the journal thing for me and my boyfriend’s anniversary and in it I put pictures of where we went together, I made a page for all the obstacles we have crossed together, put songs, or little cute words we used to say, I even wrote a choose your adventure story that included both of us and a group of aliens and there was only one good ending (that was really fun). Another thing you could do is give them something simple, but give them many simple things, like maybe a gift certificate to there favorite store and put it in a huge box so it looks like a really big gift. Then fill up the box with there favorite candy and then watch them fish around for there gift, it’s really fun and very memorable. So here’s my philosophy. You could either get them a really big gift like equipment for weight training, or something relating to golf or bowling or you could them something more simple like a gift certificate, a watch, or a combination of those and spice it up by adding a little memory journal or making it cute by putting it in a big box with a bunch of candy. I tend to go for the combination of little things and the journal idea because it’s much more meaningful and it’s truly a gift that lasts and never gets old. Oh and for other gift ideas you could buy him/her something they need for there house, an accessory for the computer, car, or whatever. You could take them to a concert or some sports event you know he/she would love to go to. Or you can take them on a shopping spree and have him/her pick out whatever he/she would want. I like the accessories for there computer or there car. I really think that is the way to go. You could go even further by making it look cute. You said you guys have only been together for a couple of weeks, so I think you should save the enhancing techniques till later on in your relationship. They are much funnier and even more appreciated then. But besides that I think the accessory for there computer or car would definitely be good. The odds are you don’t know yet which ones he needs. Since you know that they like basketball, I suppose you could take him to see a game. My understanding of gift-giving is that it is not its price that matters, but the joys that it brings to the person you give it to. It seems that you care a lot about this person. I cannot tell you what kind of a gift he/she would like to receive. You are the one that must know him/her very well. Just think about what kind of person they are and what they like to do and what kind of things they like to have around them. Try to remember if they ever mentioned something that they liked or something that they would like to have then that would be the very best thing to get them. You can get them a album by an artist he/she likes or a book by a writer he/she admires, or a bouquet of flowers because he/she thinks it romantic or anything else you know they would like. If you want you could give them jewelry, but not the type that is gold and silver and all that stuff. There’s some that look very exotic and colorful. Some have gold in them but they look very pretty and different. It’s kind of hard to explain but I see them at a lot of jewelry stores so you could check it out if you want to. If you want you could be traditional and do one thing original. For example, you could get her a huge teddy bear with the flowers, but make homemade chocolate. Something easy and cheap to make and which all my friends are addicted to right now is Brazilian chocolate and all you need is cocoa powder, sweetened milk, and butter. You could go to the website and check it out. It takes very little time to make and is very good. Your boyfriend/girlfriend would probably love it if you took the time to actually make them chocolate or some other type of food or candy. If those don’t work. Then there is a cartoon character or something cute that they like. Get them something related to it. Maybe a few DVDs or CDs that they like or a big stuffed animal character. You could even get them those little sea monkey pets and give him/her a monkey stuffed animal and a necklace with a monkey on it. Copywriting Tips for Daycare Business Owners

Friday, September 7th, 2007

By Seraphina Tan Copywriting can seem overwhelming for some. Some do not even know how to begin. Here are a few tips to make it a little easier. Before you begin your copywriting, heres what you should do. First, take a piece of paper and list down what you think are the needs and wants of the parents are. Itll probably be somewhere along the lines of a trustworthy caregiver to care for their child or a daycare centre that is near their house, a clean and hygienic daycare centre or even a daycare centre that is affordable. Well call this List A With that in mind, list down the things / services that you possess which you think will be able to meet those needs and wants. For example, a good track record or it is a new centre or you offer the lowest rates in the neighborhood. That will provide you with the foundation to start your draft. Well call this List B. Traditionally, advertisers use the AIDA (stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action) model as a guide to generate highly successful advertisement copy. It is fairly simple, once you get the hang of it. A stand for Attention. There should be an element in the copy whose job is to capture the audiences attention. It usually is the headline or a photo/graphic. It should be arresting and should entice the potential parent to want to read more. The headline can be anything which you think will capture the attention of the reader. It can be in the form of a statement or a question. For example, you can use The cheapest daycare charges in Town A as a headline or Are you looking for a cheap and reliable daycare centre? “On the average, five times as many people read the headlines as read the body copy. It follows that, unless your headline sells your product, you have wasted 90 percent of your money.” David Oglivy Therefore a headline is extremely important. I stands for Interest. The copy of the advertisement should aim to generate the audiences interest. It should address their concerns / needs or provide them with a solution to a problem, using the information gathered from List A as well as List B. D is for Desire. The next step is to get them to buy into your idea / product and really want the product. There should be a hook / bait such as testimonials, free gift, or even a time based discount etc. The final and most important step - Action. Many advertisements miss this out. After telling your audience how your company is going to solve their problems, you need to tell them what to do next. Do you want them to call a hotline to make an appointment or come down to see your open house or bring this advertisement for a free gift. Dont leave them hanging. Close the copy by telling them what to do. Good luck and happy writing!
